I read with great trepidation the article on “More EV Charging Stations Coming to Tallahassee”. My concern was not that TaMaryn Waters was not fair or accurate, but we have not seen any material change from the industry about including all drivers within this transportation innovation.
EV stations are popping up not only in Tallahassee, but all over Florida and across the country. This was reported last year in the Florida Trend, as well as in the Wall Street Journal. Some EV stations are being designed with accessibility standards. However, the vehicles themselves are not inclusive. They are unable to accommodate drivers who use mobility devices and other adaptive technology to currently drive. It is my hope that we do not inadvertently create two separate classes of drivers: those who can participate within the new green energy space, and those who cannot.
